Congratulations! The Sacrament of Baptism is the first of the Catholic Church's three Sacraments of Initiation.
It celebrates God's loving embrace and welcomes new members of His Church into the fullness of life with Christ.

Baptisms at Saint John's Church

The majority of parishioners baptized at Saint John's are infants and young children. To make the experience as meaningful as possible for their families, parents are asked to attend a Baptism Preparation Class before their first child is baptized at Saint John's. One or both of the Godparents are also encouraged to attend the class. The baptism class requirement must be completed prior to requesting a date for baptism.

Registration for Baptism

To register for the Sacrament of Baptism and Baptism class, please contact Parish Office Support at 651-288-3271.

  • Baptisms are typically held on the second Sunday of every month at 12:00 noon, except during Lent.
  • Baptism Preparation Classes are typically held on the first Wednesday of every other month, February through December, 7:00 pm in the Parish Office.

Regarding Godparents: There is only one male sponsor and one female sponsor or one of each that will be listed on the official certificate. A sponsor must be a baptized Catholic, at least 16 years of age, who has received the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation and who is living a life in conformity with the church's teaching. A baptized non-Catholic may participate in the ceremony together with a Catholic sponsor, but as a "witness" to the baptism rather than a sponsor.  If you have more questions, please contact Parish Office Support at 651-288-3271.
